End of suspense. Pantone, the international reference for color, has just announced the color that will invade our interiors in 2022. Discover a dynamic and warm shade.
It is the long-awaited event in decoration. For more than twenty years, the experts of the Pantone Color Institute have been revealing the flagship color of the coming year. Who will succeed the unusual duo of "Illuminating" and "Ultimate Gray", described by the world color authority as "positive and fearless, bearer of resilience and hope"? Its competitors, meanwhile, have chosen to place 2022 under a sage green, a sign of optimism and renewal.
On Thursday December 9, Pantone finally revealed the “Color of The Year 2022”. We thus discover the “Very Peri” , PANTONE reference 17-3938, a blue nuanced by red and purple undertones. A choice “combining the fidelity and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red”. The novelty also punctuated the election of this shade at Pantone. In 22 years, this is a first for the American company which has created this color entirely to feel good at home. "Encompassing the qualities of blues with a hint of red-violet, the color Very Peri expresses a lively, joyful attitude and a dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression," says the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman.
PANTONE 2022: the warm blue “Very Peri”
After a resolutely audacious combination of bright yellow and gray, Pantone is once again turning to blue. Indeed, this was already the case in 2020 with “Classic Blue”, a deep blue which was intended to be “reassuring, full of calm and confidence”. This year, to mark the end of periods of restrictions, confinements or curfews, Pantone elects a shade of blue "the warmest of all, friendly and good child". Enough to put optimism back at the heart of our interiors.
