You are sitting at your office and you are quietly playing Cyberpunk 2077 on your game PC.The problem is that you would like to play it by being avoided on the living room sofa, handle in hand and eyes riveted on your biggest TV ...
This is Alienware's project with the NYX concept, an alternative to Steam Remote Play presented at CES 2022.The idea is simple, make sure you can turn on any screen in your house, press a button from a dedicated application and resume its part broadcast from your PC, as if nothing had happened. All, having the opportunity to play several games at the same time, regardless of their launch platform.

NYX concept, cloud gaming, but locally
With the NYX concept, Alienware imagines a future where loading and reading video games on a variety of screens could occur as instantly as the diffusion of music or series. With the help of NYX software, it would be possible to broadcast any PC game - regardless of its purchasing platform -, wirelessly, on a variety of screens at home.
Alienware promises a much lower latency than that of traditional cloud gaming services, which are based on servers located hundreds of kilometers.Indeed, here, it is your play PC that would play the role of server, and not the servers of Nvidia or Google.
On paper, concept nyx would allow you to play and broadcast up to 4 games at the same time. You could play Rocket League in the living room while your brother plays The Witcher 3 from his tablet, or both on the same screen, with, we imagine, very small windows and a rendering probably too pixelated.
Still in the conceptual phase, Nyx will actually need a machine powerful enough to perform several games at the same time, all supported by a good internet speed to effectively manage the distribution of low latency flow.
Like the UFO concept of Alienware, a portable game PC of the Switch type which had been presented for the first time two years ago, concept NYX could never see the light of day.Future products could however benefit from part of its features, as well as the way the UFO controller is used in the demonstration video of the NYX concept (see above).
To date, we do not yet know if Alienware intends to take out his own material stamped Nyx, when and for how many euros, by subscription or not.
