During the Cold War, sport was used by communist regimes in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe for political as well as social ends. As an instrument of mobilization, cohesion and emancipation, the practice of sport is thus placed at the intersection of many questions on which Sylvain Dufrausse, historian of sport and lecturer in contemporary history at Nantes University, enlightens us.
