The curtain brings a touch of elegance and sophistication to a room. Personalize your interior by making your curtains. Here is a step-by-step that shows you all the stages of the realization.
6sharesThe choice of fabric
It all starts with the choice of fabric. For this, a few rules must be respected: the interior curtains are made of cotton, nylon or synthetic. For double curtains, choose thick fabrics like velvet. For simple curtains, prefer fabrics that are neither too thick nor too thin.
The choice of colors depends on your taste and the decoration of your interior. Be aware, however, that blue and its shades create a cold atmosphere while red, yellow and orange inspire warmth.
Mounting
– Take the dimensions of your window: the height and the width. For the height, add a few extra centimeters (about 5 cm) for the rod. Double the width of the window to obtain pleats.
– Then cut the fabric.
– Hem: take one side of the fabric and fold the border inwards. Mark with an iron before sewing on the machine. You can also use iron-on tape to secure the hem. Repeat the process for the other sides of the fabric.
Installing the eyelets
The eyelets allow the curtain to slide along the rod. Then adapt the dimensions of the eyelets according to the diameter of the rod.
– Hem about 10cm (depending on the measurements of your eyelets) on the top of the curtain.
– Start 6cm from the edge and 2cm from the top, then place an eyelet there . Leave a distance of 15 cm between each eyelet.
– Trace the inside diameter of the eyelets with chalk.
– Then fold the fabric aiming for the center of each circle and cut the circles with scissors.
– You get circles on which you simply have to clip the eyelets.
– How to lay a wire rope for the curtains?
