1. Cogent cracks the backbone of the Russian network

His name is less known than the Gafam, but it was perhaps this operator who hit the most significant blow. Cogent Communications, which has one of the largest Internet distribution networks in the world and estimates that it sometimes manages a quarter of the data circulating around the world, has announced an immediate end to all its contracts in Russia. In the companies directly affected: the Russian telecommunications giant Rostecom, the search engine Yandex and two of the largest telephony operators, MegaFon and Veon. A historic decision which, of course, will not deprive Russia of the Internet, but significantly reduce the power of its bandwidth, causing a de facto slowdown on its entire network.
