DIY Curtain Tiebacks - HILARY L HAHN

How to make curtain tiebacks with wooden beads

A month ago I hosted my first shibori workshop as part of a series of upcoming maker events it was super fun and creative so basically I can't wait to share all the photos with you. Since I put so much energy into this event, I wanted to share a simple, mess-free DIY. As many of you know, I upgraded my art studio to create a coastal vibe. and a modern office where I can work on my designs. I needed new curtain tiebacks to tame my white linen panel curtains. I was really happy with the results and the whole project only took 15 minutes on my working day. High five!
This post originally appeared in early July and has quickly become one of my most popular posts I am adding an update and improvement to the project today after using the ties for over a month .

Here's How You Too Can Make Simple and Inexpensive Beaded Curtain Tiebacks

in about 15-20 minutes.Happy DIY!

For this project, you will only need two things:

NATURAL WOOD BEADS IN VARIOUS SIZES: Vegan faux leather cord, be sure to select the 6 pack which includes the neutral, white and gray cords.***Please note that my original tiebacks were strung on twine, but I decided to tie them up for a more durable loop and finish them off using the faux suede cord. I plan to use this cord again on another project!

Read on for the full project and supplies list!

I started by creating a loop at one end of the cord. I knotted it 2 times so that the first bead rested on the knot.

I started by stringing the medium sized bead first. I couldn't find my embroidery needle so I just taped the end of the cord off using packing tape to make it easier to thread and avoid fraying as I worked. I created a pattern using medium and large beads in a pattern. I decided to use the small beads for another project although I think they could be used for create a different pattern and/or longer beaded tiebacks.

I used 16 beads in total and looped the string through the last large beads 3 times to secure it before knotting and cutting off the excess string.

... Ta-da! you have it. New tiebacks in about 15 minutes with a natural and Scandinavian chic look!

Here's the updated look donned on vegan gray suede below! I really like it

vegan leather cord

and I feel like it has additional uses, from shoe lacing to gift wrapping.

I slip the last 2 beads through the loop at the end to adjust the length and tightness.Total Project Cost:$$Here is a rundown of the supplies I used below: 1.2 Natural Round Beads .Natural Hemp Twine **Pair of Linen Panel Curtains 3.Vegan Leather Cord For even bigger and more dramatic, you can go up the size with these beads!

Making each kiss was very affordable.

I still have a lot of small and medium beads left, so I could make 2 more tiebacks or a wooden garland for other rooms in the house.

I hope this simple project will make your curtains look perfect and more manageable. Leave a comment below if you try it or tag me on
