Hey everyone! I'm back with another quick update on the bathroom remodel! Life has been busy lately so I haven't been able to do as much as I would like but Today I finally made more progress! It's THE LONGEST RENOVATION ever but it looks so good!
I was pretty excited about this so I wanted to share. You may remember we added a window here - I always dreamed of having natural light and it was as awesome as I imagined :
Many of you have asked how we would let the light in if we had a shower curtain -- well, I had something in mind for that. First of all, even though I was using a regular curtain, I I was planning on leaving it open all the time. But I had always planned to go very high with the shower curtain, so a regular curtain wasn't going to work. I didn't want the bar to land in your line of sight towards the window.
You can buy extra long curtains, but I wanted a specific look for this tub - I've always loved the double curtain look. I think it looks super custom and very pretty. Like curtains for your tub. 😆 And the curtains are exactly what I have!
I grabbed a 96" white pair from HomeGoods for $25. (You can't beat their large curtains - two for that price!) I made sure to get some with grommets - they usually have a bunch .
I have this
extra long shower curtain linerand had to figure out how to hang it with the curtains so it could be completely closed. I could have had another curtain rod - one for the liner and one for the curtains. You can also buy
a double shower rod!How cool is this? But I didn't want to spend any more money. :)
So I just hung the liner and the curtain on one side together -- and you can't even tell:
Isn't it pretty?Love the look! And that tile!!I don't think I've shown you the shower yet.You can see why I want to show it!These babies stay open!I'm going to have to hem a little the bottom of these.😫 I'm going to drag the ironing board over here and use my hemming tape while they're still hanging.
When I was trying to decide what to do with the liner I looked up a few ideas and quite a few people I found online cut theirs down the middle to get this look and then layered them when they got closed the shower. I almost did that, but since our boy uses this one, I don't want to worry about him succeeding every time. You can't even see the liner when it's open.
Here is a preview when the curtain is closed:
Since these stay open, I don't care how it looks when closed. But if you want it to be more symmetrical when closed, you can cut the liner in the middle (like I mentioned) and hang the two liners and the two curtains together. (If you did, you can leave your fabric still if you like!)
And of course, you can go with any design or color you want! Your options are endless.
But then again, I'm not picky about what it looks like when someone showers - they're the only ones that will be there anyway. ;) I really like how they look hanging from either side. And that glorious light can still pass.??
By the way, ignore the half painted walls, the long curtains (they won't touch the floor when I'm done) and the wrinkled lining. Everything will fit together and be much better for the reveal!
Hope this makes sense! If you have any questions let me know! Thought this was cool without spending a ton so wanted to share with you. I'll be back tomorrow with an outside reveal I've been dying for to show you! :)
