Moss Laboratory: artistic fiber

After spending a little too much time between four walls in the first months of 2020, Dana Limone and Vasantha Susarla found that their respective apartments lacked Pep.They started making decorative carpets.Since the word has been circulating, orders flock.

Although it occupies them a lot, the Moss Laboratory project is above all a hobby for the two fiber and textile art lovers, who nevertheless soon start their master's degree in architecture (DANA)) and in the environment (VERANTHA)).

"I would say that Moss exists especially to allow us to exploit our artistic side.We like to play with fibers for some time already.And we also love contact with other artists who, most of the time, provide us with an original design to make in a carpet.We adapt it and we get to work.These are stimulating collaborations, ”explains Dana, in video interview.

All shapes and colors are allowed.The possibilities are really endless.The tandem produced a colorful carpet for Taylor Gauley, a good interior designer in sight in Montreal (Fugazzi Pizza restaurants, Foiegwa, Velvet bar, etc..)).Several small businesses have made their logo in short shag.Artists want to reproduce drawings or abstract woolen or cotton fabrics.

Dana and Vasantha only work with these two subjects, bought in Quebec, ideally without synthetic agents.

They even transform fiber falls into cushion padding.

For the moment, the very small business is too busy making orders for its growing customers to create your own collection, but it will come."We would like to create more of our own designs and offer small decorative and affordable pieces that people could buy," admits Vasantha.Mosse laboratory creations can adorn both horizontal and vertical surfaces.
