Ex-film decorator, investor and entrepreneur, Morgane Guignon (MG Interior Design) helps her clients renovate their property in a fair and profitable way.
From the Boulle School in Paris to studying architecture in Brussels
From cinema to real estate investment, there is sometimes only one step. “I wanted to be an actress or a writer,” remembers Morgane Guignon. Finally with the pen and the projectors, Morgane opts for a school of architecture. “In 2006, after my literary baccalaureate, I was admitted to the Boulle school in Paris where I followed a year of upgrading. Then, I passed a BTS in interior designer/fitter,” she says. And to continue: “The fitter is like an interior designer with the difference that he also draws technical plans to the millimeter by integrating custom furniture to fit out shops, restaurants, hotels, etc. »
With her BTS in her pocket, Morgane decided to complete her training with a degree in interior architecture and environmental design at La Cambre, the National School of Visual Arts in Brussels. Once her studies were finished, she worked for a few months in an architecture firm in Monaco before flying to Brazil. “One of my cousins, a real estate investor based there, suggested that I join him in designing a house that he could then sell to other investors,” she explains. For Morgane, the cultural and architectural immersion is total. “I was particularly struck by the ease with which the architects bring the exterior inside the dwellings. »
From cinema to real estate investment
On her return to France in 2011, Morgane realized one of her dreams: to make a film thanks to a role as an extra in the film Cloclo. “The atmosphere on a set, the smell, the people running in all directions, the organization, I loved it! So much so that she decided to settle in Paris where, in parallel with her work in a furniture store in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, she became chief decorator on short films by young directors.
“My role is to suggest locations and settings that will correspond to the scenes imagined by the director of the film. I quickly had the opportunity to work for Canal + and I began to accumulate my first hours of intermittent entertainment.
The projects follow one another, the films too. Between December 2011 and July 2012, Morgane was involved in her first feature film, L'écume des jours directed by Michel Gondry, a film which won the César for best decor in 2013. And then, in 2016, there was this last film, The promise of dawn by Eric Barbier which led him to travel across Europe for nine months.
“After this film, I went on vacation to the South of France where I was called by a producer who offered me a position as production designer. At 29, Morgane takes up her new duties without suspecting for a moment the turn her life will take. "One day, one of the members of the team I work with said to me: 'I know a real estate investor who is organizing a seminar in Nice, you have to come, with your skills, it's not normal that you don't don't invest in real estate. So I attend, in 2018, the first seminar of Christopher Wangen. Coming out of there, I only have one thing in mind: train and invest! A month later, Morgane bought two apartments and created her interior designer company in Nice.
An accomplished businesswoman
Today, at the head of a team of five people, partner of an all-trades renovation company that operates throughout France, Morgane has also been a property dealer for a year. “I am also in the process of finishing the work on my first building,” she explains. Besides that, it offers two online training courses: the first to learn how to invest, the second for investors who want to optimize their return through interior design and decoration work. In April, Morgane will also launch the My shopping list site – which will allow people with a development project to do their shopping, decoration and materials, by following a mood board proposed by her team.
Its fuel? Healthy eating and yoga!
A successful businesswoman with a busy schedule, Morgane has found her balance through sport, healthy eating and yoga retreats. “Lately, I wanted to share what made the difference for me in a seminar entitled Business and spirituality which will be held at the end of May. I partnered with a therapist and, over four days, we will help participants realign and boost their business with practical tools. A program that is inspiring to say the least.
