Martha Stewart's braided carpet all in white rope

Martha Stewart's braided carpet-directed:

To make this braided carpet, you will have to start by training by making a miniature version of the braiding using a fine string. When you finally master the braiding, you are ready to design the carpet to full size.

Cover a large area of work with kraft paper. Mark a cross on the paper. A line will be vertical and will have to measure 85 cm. The other line will be horizontal and will measure 32 cm (which corresponds to the dimensions of the carpet when you arrive at step 4). When weaving, use the cross as a guide to keep the shape of the carpet.

Martha Stewart's braided carpet-material:

For a carpet of 85 cm x 50 cm:

Kraft paper

A marker or pencil

About 50 metres of twisted nylon rope between 1 and 1.5 cm thick

A sewing needle

Sewing thread

A pair of scissors

A lighter

Glue

Start with one of the ends of the rope. Form a loose knot as shown in the picture above. Leave 76 cm of rope on the right side and leave the loose rope on the left. Gently pull the loops formed on the bottom of the knot.

Step 2:

Turn the loops back to their left as shown in the image above. Lift the first loop and place it on the second.

Step 3:

Take the right end of the rope and weave it on and under the various threads as shown in the image above.

Now use the end left on the left (stuttering). Weave on and under the wires diagonally, down to the right. Then continue the weaving, passing the thread upwards, always diagonally and to the right, as shown in the image above. Adjust the rope to look like the diagram.

Step 5:

Follow the path of the rope with your pelot while remaining parallel to the previous turn. Pull the rope after each passage to tighten the weaving properly to form the loops properly.
