2 / Purchasing sun rakes in cuma
Changes in forage systems, site sizes, the increase in legume areas are vectors for new concepts of rakes in cuma. In particular, there is an establishment of sun rakes in Haute-Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse and the Vosges. These tools are on average 4 years old.
Sun rakes require time to get to grips with them to make the most of them.
In addition, these are mainly Italian brands: Tonnuti, Enorossi, Sitrex, etc. Concerning the purchase prices of rakes with suns in cuma, they vary from 8.000€ for a simple model increased to 23.000€ for tools of 24 suns in V. Materials chosen for their simplicity, but which require a handling to make the most of them. In addition, the versatility of sun rakes is limited in semi-dry forage.
3 / Belt rakes
On the other hand, manufacturers of pick-up rakes and transfer belts arrived in the cumas often with support from PCAE aid on quality grass. More recent with only 2 years of average age, they allow certain groups, mainly in Haute-Marne, to manage very large areas. It should be noted that only 2 brands are present on this subject: Roc and Kuhn.
Regarding the purchase price of a belt rake, the Kuhn Maxx Merge is around 55 to 60,000€. For their part, the Roc models reach peaks with 80 to 85,000€. With annual volumes of 300 to more than 600ha, it is however possible to maintain rates of 12 to 15€/ha. But it must be recognized that it is often opportunities for 60% aid that have encouraged groups to take the plunge and that it takes large farms to reach these annual volumes.
The purchase price of a Roc belt rake can exceed 80,000€.
In addition, the cuma concerned do not regret their choice. Even if they recognize that in immature cereals such as rye, or with very long stalks, these devices can also have limits. Note the appearance in some projects of V-shaped reed versions (Elho twin), which are an intermediary between purchase value and the possibility of managing fragile fodder.
In summary, the rake is a quality vector in the harvesting chain. He is ultimately responsible for what will go through the harvest finalization tool (forage harvester or press). And it is gradually adapting to sites that are becoming ever more efficient.
