Captain Marvel n’est pas une origin story. C’est cinq origin stories en une. Celle de Carol Danvers bien sûr. Celle de Nick Fury, le super-espion sous-exploité. Celle deTintin, Phil Coulson, que l’on retrouve avec plaisir sur grand écran après cinq saisons d’Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Et celles de deux personnages secondaires des Gardiens de la Galaxie, Korath le Poursuivant et Ronan l’Accusateur, qui gagnent rétroactivement en épaisseur. Comme Spider-Man : Homecoming, l’une des principales qualités du film est donc son ancrage dans l’Univers Cinématographique Marvel. Sur ce point précis, le scénario a le mérite d’être riche en surprises. Même le caméo de Stan Lee, étrangement signifiant, sort de l’ordinaire…

Captain Marvel's superpowers will be talked about. A lot. At first, she is very powerful. At the end, it is simply ... invincible? Not a scratch in two hours of time. This asks many questions. Is Carol Danvers who is too powerful or the other superheroes that have been restrained? (We think of Thor Odinson. An entire trilogy to reach his full potential!) Apart from Thanos, which opponent oppose him? The final battle illustrates this problem. Once it shines brightly - the most enjoyable moment of the film! -, Danvers walks, since it is one of those heroes-fused capable of spraying spaceships with bare hands. To make sure, it feels like watching a video game kinematics. It is not so much the quality of the visual effects that is involved, but the general appearance of superheroine: between the costume, the mask and the sparkling eyes, there is almost nothing real. Just a chin floating in space. Weird. Superman has the solution, no mask!
On the other hand, we must salute the incredible - and invisible - work carried out by Lola Visual Effects in terms of digital rejuvenation.Captain Marvel is the blockbuster that is most based on this technology from Tron: heritage.We have exceeded the Simple Flashbacks stadium in Ant-Man.Rejuvenated 24 years old, Nick Fury is one of the main characters in the film ... and bug, it works!The field of possibilities is now infinite.Besides the Danvers/Fury relation, we will remember everything related to the Skrulls.They hover a great climate of paranoia from start to finish.And despite the layers of makeup, Ben Mendelsohn embodies a complex and touching Talos.In general, even if the action is omnipresent, all the main actors have enough dramatic matter to exist, with the exception of Jude Law.
