It is one more controversy for the presidential couple. This Thursday, December 29, began the renovations of the Elysée renovations which will last until January 15.Validated by Brigitte Macron herself, the work has the renovation of more than 1000 square meters of rooms within the Elysée, from the village hall to the winter garden.
In the newspaper Le Monde, the First Lady explains: "It felt like the Elysée had become a fortress that was protecting itself from the outside. We will lighten, purify.Light must between."It is therefore the carpet, the curtains, the hangings and the seat of the seats that will be changed. The new carpet will be of a modern graded gray and beige, and developed by national workshops and woven in a company in the north of France."This project will give a contemporary vision of the Élysée, and will honor a unique French know-how" assures Hervé Lemoine, director of national furniture at the newspaper Le Figaro.
Yet the very imposing cost of this project already makes teeth cringe: 600,000 euros would thus be planned to renovate the village hall, including 300,000 euros in carpet. While Brigitte Macron's holding price during the commemorations of November 11 had been subject to controversy and the country is plagued by a social discontent with the movement of yellow vests, the price has something to bristle a few hairs. But the Le Figaro newspaper says: the cost of the work should be at least partly supported by the sale of derivative products.
Questioned by Challenges last September, the director of national furniture already mentioned this renovation project undertaken under the Macron presidency."The president wanted us to redecorate the Elysée and that the furniture renews its decorative framework. It is a way for him to show these know-how in this space which is almost the first showroom in France ".For several months, national furniture experts have been very caring to restore the large tapestries in the village hall dating from the 18th century.
